A little about our web site...

This web site is the result of an effort on the part of the Technology Committee to bring our parishioners a web interface to interact with the church, the school and the some 57 organizations that comprise our parish.

The project was begun in August of 2001 and is a work in progress daily.  One of the specifications of the Technology Committee's goal was to make the site completely updateable by the church and school staff, students, and a number of the organizations in our parish.  Having a single webmaster to update and add content presents some obvious problems.  Recognizing that most have little or no programming skills and the software necessary to maintain their portion of the site we turned to a number of programming technologies to solve the problem.

Utilizing databases, Active Server Pages and many other programming techniques nearly every portion of this site can be updated, added to and old files deleted via the browser.  Content on pages can be changed, calendars updated, schedules made and new pages added quickly and simply with no knowledge of web design or programming skills.    Place announcements, prayer requests and ads just by filling out a form.  Their information is added instantaneously.  The interactive features like the Rosary and The Bible are a great reference for students and adults alike.  Our e-card feature has a card for every occasion.  Like we said, a complete web interface was the goal.

As of 5/18/02, less than 6 months after the project began, the site is comprised of over 2,000 pages.  And as we said earlier, it is a daily work in progress as content is added by our church and school staff, students, organizations and parishioners.

Our future plans?  We have several.  Check back often to see our growth into the internet as a parish and as a school.
